Trademark FAQs - related questions & answers
Question: Can a minor file a trademark application?
Answer: This depends upon state law. If the person can validly enter into binding legal obligations in the state, then that person may sign a trademark application. Otherwise, a parent or legal guardian must sign the application, clearly setting forth their status as a parent or legal guardian of the applicant
Question: Do I need to translate my trademarks into a foreign language?
Answer:
No. When translating text/documents into another language, the trademark doesn’t need to be translated. Often there is no literal translation of the term, and the significance of the trademark is not how it translates.
Question: Does the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office have free searchable trademark databases?
Answer:
Yes, the Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS) is available online to perform trademark and servicemark searches.
